HARCOURT HOTEL

EXTENSION AND CONNECTION TO THE ADJACENT SISTER HOTELS

THIS EXTENSION TO THE HARCOURT HOTEL AND CONNECTION TO THE IVEAGH GARDEN HOTEL PRESENTED SOME DELICATE ISSUES IN TERMS OF A REDUCED SPACE DIRECTLY OVERLOOKING PRE-EXISTING PROPERTIES. THE “MOCK” GEORGIAN FRONT FACADE REMAINS UNTOUCHED WHILE THE REAR BECOMES AN OCCASION TO IMPROVE AN UNSIGHTLY URBAN VOID WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF A VERTICAL EXTENSION. THE FLOORS ARE SET BACK AND THE HEIGHT IS LIMITED TO THE HEIGHT OF THE ADJACENT HOTEL.  THE ROOMS ARE GENEROUS AND THE VERTICAL DISTRIBUTION IMPROVED AS WELL AS THE FIRE SAFETY. THE BASEMENT IS DEDICATED TO A LARGE MEETING/CONFERENCE ROOM BOTH ON THE SIDE OF THE EXTENSION AND ON THE SIDE OF THE MOCK GEORGIAN BUILDING.
