To create a space offering a 100seater restaurant and live music venue was a challenge complicated further in that this is the oldest building in Belfast dating back to 1711. The scheme was sympathetic to the building and included a large feature bespoke light fitting wholly unique to McHugh’s and drew on some contemporary elements, whilst a clever wok station added an element of quirkiness. The colour scheme is of the period and the furniture is both practical and comfortable and does not shout at the building.
