Velvet Room

Client:
Private
Location:
Kempten Parade, Sligo

This reincarnation of a 200-year-old brewery building on the banks of the Garavogue River in Sligo has breathed life back into another seemingly redundant building. It is with vision that this derelict stone warehouse has been extended and refurbished into a cutting edge club, offering the more discerning revelers a complete change from the norm in terms of a setting for late night entertainment. A sense of opulence contrasted with the modern technology of a club was the design brief given. The existing stone walls have been repaired and restored, decorative metal panels highlight the original features in the warehouse, and these hard details are softened by classical plaster cornices, luxurious plush velvets and heavily patterned wallpapers. Juxtaposed with these elements are the high-tech projection screens scattered around the venue, and state of the art lighting and sound systems.
