JDDG were commissioned to prepare a scheme for the design and reconfiguration of the existing ground floor of the Park Plaza Sherlock Holmes on Baker Street, London. An element of the proposal included relocating the existing reception area from the front of the building to the rear, we made use of classic panelling referencing the Sherlock Holmes era and contemporised elements of the space with black glass and feature artwork with individual reception pods. The existing bar received a welcome uplift with a striking new mosaic tile panel to the front of the existing bar, contemporary yet wholly comfortable seating and decorative new light fittings. The restaurant benefited from a palette colour change as well as quirky design features such as framed artwork on the ceiling. The new entrance to the hotel at the rear was finished with new fenestration and decorative concealed lighting that helped define the location along the street.
