The redevelopment comprises of a four star 121 – bedroom hotel, with facilities to include 5 bars, restaurant, leisure facilities including pool, sauna, and gym with full cardio and free weight facilities and function rooms. The work involved the design and development of a predominantly stone and glass structure to incorporate, as it’s focal point a 5 meter high glass revolving door providing entrance into a triple height glass atrium. Protecting the beautiful existing red sandstone Crown Bar ( a protected structure) and incorporating it into the development. English Heritage dictated very specific requirements that had to be adhered to implicitly and the net result was an airy and tranquil atmosphere that is a welcome oasis from the hustle and bustle of the high street.
