The bar is located within the basement of the Students’ Union Building. It failed to attract regular customers because of its sterile environment. The brief was to design a comfortable, contemporary and stylish space that appealed to students of all ages. To achieve this, the space was divided into two sections; the Games Area with bespoke graphic shades hanging above the pool tables, fixed leather seating for waiting gamers, walls clad in fabric pads and an illuminated University illustration nine meters long. Because the basement has no natural light, various moods are achieved with a colour changing LED system. This is highlighted in the Lounge Area by the drinks counter that divides the high and low seated sections where the students can intermingle using the durable furniture at different levels. Large timber tables in front of the bar, with the giant graphic shade above offers flexible arrangements, with back bar illuminated shelving adding to the ambience.
