The central concept was to create a contemporary and sophisticated environment whist retaining the warm comfortable ambience of the traditional local bar. Considering the location and intended use of the venue, a fresh perspective was needed to inject some life into the ‘suburban bar’. A simple palette of materials such as heavy dark timber, cool mirror and glass through this very contemporary building are balanced carefully against warm textural elements such as decorative wall coverings, soft pleated light fittings and the richly upholstered furniture. Baroque fuses modern urban cool with suburban ease, creating a cosmopolitan setting of warmth, life and energy attractive to all age groups and people in the locality, creating a new and distinctive bar experience far from the city centre.
