The frameless glazing from the street to interior offers no obstruction to an inquisitive eye and this involvement remains through the glazed lobby to within. What greets the newcomer, is a floor of rich cream travertine marble and walnut hardwood, set off against the bar’s gentle matt black granite finish. The surrounding walls are a wonderful combination of the original brick, in its stark form, the illusory panels of the back bar, which appears to float away from the very walls to which they must logically cling. A mere hop up the 1950’s look stairs, and one finds oneself amongst a selection of leather look sofas in wine gum hues of aubergine and apple green. Kitsch contemporary design icons within hessian wall recesses. And a few casual standard lamps, further confirm that you have entered a comfort zone.
