The Bedroom of Tomorrow

The Overall design criteria are that the proposed hotel rooms will be flexibility. The existing hotel room can be adjusted from single to double rooms. Our proposal is to allow the rooms to be single, double, and twin and can interconnect to create suites and family rooms and further adjusted to be used as meeting rooms without the need for removal of the beds or any substantial changes to the bathroom and storage facilities.

The large wall between the units is an acoustic screen and must be moveable on a roller to the ground, when in the open position it is set into a recess in the en-suite wall the door used to interconnect the rooms when main door is open now acts as access to the bathroom facilities. The beds and side lockers are built into a fixed furniture block and can be folded out to form a full double bed with mattresses zipped together, it can be set in two single beds by not pulling out the centre section or as a single bed by just using one fold out bed. The option of half folding the beds out can provide a fixed couch, this then allows for the ease of changing the room into a full suite.

The construction of these units will be carried out off site by of a pod construction technique, bathrooms as a single pod with all services installed, Bed Couch will also be constructed off site as a pod, and the large interconnecting door would also be installed as part of the original installation.

These Items together allow for a maximum flexibility for a hotel room to exist as a guest room, suite, family room and without any furniture being removed from the room it can be fully adjusted as a meeting room or a gallery of any size and can be back in place as guest accommodation for the next night.
